Bloggers Unite for Refugees
I am writing today to help some person find other family members lost due to war. Being displaced is a traumatic situation; something I have never experienced, but believe must be a hellish thing to go thru.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, many women, children and men have been displaced thru war between different factions; Hutu and Tutsi. The Tutsi are the minority group and the Hutu are militia. This has been going on for many years. This fighting has created thousands of refugees fleeing the region.
Although UN Peacekeeping units get sent into the area, the militia manages to attack them and drive them away from the refugees. According to the report by the International Rescue Committee, more than 5.4 million people have lost their lives since 1998, and thousands are continuing to die every month.
When women and children are displaced there are many problems with finding shelter, food and water, and safety from being raped. HIV is a big problem that comes out of rape and so are unwanted babies. There is always a need for them to received reproductive health care, which they don’t usually have access to.
Children become lost from their parents and are exposed to not only the elements but violence, too. They also are killed. I can only imagine the horror and despair that fills their hearts when living life as a refugee fleeing whatever is causing the trauma to their souls.
No human being should ever have to live this way and we know that so much more must be allowed to help change the outcome of these situations. A number of humanitarian groups try hard to do what they can in these circumstances.
It would be better if all could be united but, if just one person or family can be reunited with other family members that would be wonderful. One organization that is working to do this is Refugees United.

I finally made it onto blogspot, and I wanted to connect with you. It's not like myspace though, and I don't know how to add you!
I mainly created this so I could link it to the website I am constructing called claimyourspace.org.
